What is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is an analog of tuftsin, a natural immunomodulatory peptide, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that makes it more resistant to enzymatic breakdown.
In preclinical studies Selank is investigated for anxiolytic-like activity, modulation of GABAergic signalling, effects on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression and immune modulation. It is often studied alongside Semax, which is also available paired with Selank.
