What is IGF-1 LR3?
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83-amino-acid analog of human insulin-like growth factor-1. It has an arginine in place of glutamic acid at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid extension at the N-terminus. These changes sharply reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins, so far more of it stays free and active than native IGF-1.
That extended activity has made IGF-1 LR3 a standard growth supplement in cell culture and bioprocessing, and a tool in research on cell proliferation, muscle-cell biology and IGF-1 receptor signalling through the PI3K / Akt and MAPK pathways.
