Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It contains all 44 amino acids of human GHRH with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group added at the N-terminus, which protects it from enzymatic breakdown and extends its activity compared with native GHRH.
Tesamorelin acts on pituitary GHRH receptors to stimulate pulsatile growth-hormone release. Research uses include the growth-hormone / IGF-1 axis, visceral adipose tissue and lipid metabolism, and comparison with shorter GHRH analogs such as sermorelin and CJC-1295.
